Step into the immersive world of my artistic expression as I unveil my most ambitious project yet—an exquisite duo of oil paintings depicting two fishermen, one Japanese and one Portuguese. These monumental artworks, each measuring 150cm x 100cm, symbolize my personal journey of growth as an artist and my unwavering commitment to creating meaningful and impactful pieces.

Inspired by the profound philosophies and cultural richness I encountered during my journey to Japan, I embarked on this monumental endeavor to encapsulate the essence of two distinct yet interconnected cultures. In the first painting, an elderly Japanese fisherman stands proudly, cradling a magnificent catch in his weathered hands. His serene expression and the vibrant colors of the fish serve as a testament to the wisdom and harmony found in Japanese culture. Delicate brushstrokes of random colors, inspired by the concept of Wabi Sabi, impart a sense of imperfection and spontaneity, elevating the painting to a realm of profound beauty and authenticity.

In contrast, the second painting features a jovial Portuguese fisherman, his face illuminated with joy as he presents a basket brimming with plump sardines. Against a backdrop of azure blue waters and sun-kissed shores, he exudes the warmth and vitality of Mediterranean culture. Both fishermen are adorned in blue shirts—a nod to the boundless expanse of the sea that unites them—and while the Japanese fisherman sports a traditional straw hat, the Portuguese fisherman proudly displays his bounty in a woven basket.

As I meticulously applied premium oil colors using the alla prima technique, I imbued each brushstroke with intention and reverence, striving to capture not only the outward appearance but also the essence and spirit of my subjects. These paintings are not merely static portraits but vibrant reflections of the deep-rooted connection between humanity and nature, tradition, and innovation.

Though initially created without a specific objective in mind, these monumental artworks now stand as a testament to the power of artistic vision and the importance of understanding the "why" behind every brushstroke.
